Transportation Program Manager

Union County Council on Aging and Aged is a community-focused organization dedicated to supporting older adults and adults with disabilities in Union County and surrounding areas. The Transportation Program Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Liberty, IN. This position oversees daily transportation operations for older adults and other eligible riders, including trip scheduling, routing, and coordination with drivers to ensure safe and timely service. The manager supervises transportation staff, monitors vehicle usage, and ensures that vehicles are properly maintained, inspected, and compliant with applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and updating transportation policies, tracking program data, preparing reports, and managing the program budget in coordination with organizational leadership. The role also involves responding to rider inquiries, resolving service issues, coordinating with community partners, and identifying ways to improve access, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience in transportation coordination, logistics, or fleet management, preferably in human services or community-based programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and support staff or volunteers in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with older adults, people with disabilities, caregivers, and partner agencies.
  • Knowledge of basic budgeting, recordkeeping, and data tracking for program reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Familiarity with transportation safety standards, risk management practices, and relevant local, state, or federal regulations is preferred.
  • Proficiency with office software and scheduling tools; ability to learn specialized transportation or dispatch software as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; eligibility to operate agency vehicles as required by organizational policy.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in social services, public administration, transportation, or a related field is a plus. Business Administration/Management Degree required.
